“In 2020 a buyer of The North Face shoes in Saint-Petersburg, Russia found a note: “Help, I’m in jail in China, please, help Uyghur”. At first the company thought it was spam, then said that the pair had never been in China, and later started an internal investigation. A lot of brands are associated with using illegal labour of Uyghur people.”
